Apollo has been in business since 2010, and their selection of quality e-cigs has been growing and improving constantly.
The company, based in California, is most famous for its well-made devices, but not many people know that Apollo’s cutting-edge research and development and manufacturing facilities are located on-site.
Apollo says the biggest reason they outperform the competition is because of their in-house manufacturing. The company also prides itself on its exceptional products that cost less than those made by other manufacturers. With their Superior eGo starter kit priced at just $49.95, they present tough competition for quality e-cig products. Even the new Endeavor eGo kit, which features dual-coil clearomizers and replaceable heads, is a great deal at $67.29.
In this review, I decided to focus on their second generation e-cigs since I’d already tried their standard one.
I’d sampled the Luminous battery coupled with the very popular Kanger Protank2, which was a bargain. It’s worth noting here that Apollo is a great place to get these tanks as well as the Aspire Nautilus, and they’re on sale frequently.
Then I compared the cost of Apollo’s eGo-type batteries. The Luminous, which is only $16.95, stays charged for several days depending on how much you use it. You can easily take 800 to 1,000 draws from it before it needs to be charged.
The device’s features include:
- A spring-loaded connector pin that lets the pin move back if you over-tighten the clearomizer.
- eGo/510-type threads, which can be used with almost any clearomizer or atomizer available.
- Three-tier protection for overcharge, short circuit and low battery.
- Tri-color LED power indicator, which changes color depending on the amount of charge left in the battery.
- 900mAh battery capacity.
- 3.3 to 4.2 working voltage.
Apollo even offers a twist battery featuring different voltages for people who desire a denser hit or would rather use a dual-coil clearomizer.
Apollo’s batteries are available in a wide variety of brilliant colors. The only problem I had with the coloring on these is that it started flaking off within one month. Granted, there are some rough items in my purse, so I’ll just start keeping my device in a case. However, it would be better if the coloring was made to be more resistant to chipping and flaking.
I’m a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to liquids, and after trying all kinds of them, I’ve found Apollo’s to be hit or miss. Their mixture of vegetable glycerine to propylene glycol is half and half. Unlike the liquids offered by Virgin Vapor or Mt. Baker Vapor, Apollo doesn’t let customers order liquids with a larger proportion of vegetable glycerine. Another issue is that, if you want the optimal flavor from their liquids, they have to be steeped. Furthermore, some of their flavors don’t really taste like their namesakes.
That said, I do have a couple of favorites:
This one is delicious. It’s like inhaling a gingerbread house. This flavor isn’t excessively sweet and offers the right potency of ginger flavor. Plus, if someone comes over to your house, they’ll think you’re baking Christmas cookies.
The delicate banana flavor along with the cream offers a nice, smooth experience. If you let it steep for a day, it only gets better. This flavor is particularly tasty and smooth after an hour of use.
Flavors Worth Mentioning…
Personally, I didn’t care for this one. Although taste is a matter of opinion, I couldn’t even detect the flavor of coffee. It was simply unpleasant. However, it’s possible I just got a defective batch.
This is Apollo’s tobacco blend and is quite popular among people who enjoy that classic tobacco flavor. Every company that makes liquids seems to offer some version of RY4, but Apollo really pronounces the caramel aspects. If that’s what you like, you should enjoy this flavor.
If you want to try an eGo system that can accept a variety of different tanks, then Apollo should fit your needs.
